Updated: 1 day ago

The RUA Exhibition at the Ulster Museum is more than just an art display; it is a dynamic celebration of creativity, featuring over 300 new artworks in diverse mediums and themes. This year's showcase brings together both established professionals and up-and-coming artists, making it a highlight for anyone interested in art.

A notable feature of the RUA Exhibition is the wide range of talent exhibited. The collection seamlessly combines works from seasoned artists known for their significant contributions alongside emerging talents who are carving their niches.

There are guided tours on offer over the next couple of months and Spotlight talks offering a unique platform for artists to share their experiences, struggles, self-expression and inspirations, building a deeper connection between the audience and the artwork. I wouldIrecommend booking online to hear more from the artists, attend to a masterclass or get a tour of the exhibition

My visit to the RUA Exhibition featured an engaging talk by Maggie Bowen for art teachers, which illuminated the creative processes behind some of the artworks. And there are many more to choose from over the next two months. https://www.royalulsteracademy.org/education-programme-2025

The CraftNI Showcase

An exciting addition to the RUA Exhibition this year is the CraftNI makers' showcase. This section shines a light on the wonderful talent within Northern Ireland's craft community, featuring artisans skilled in various mediums including ceramics, textiles, and glass.

The CraftNI showcase not only broadens the scope of the exhibition but also emphasizes the importance of craftsmanship. It reminds us that artistry is not confined to traditional mediums and can be found in everyday objects that marry form and function.

A favourite painting - Roadside by Sallyann Beirne. I love large botanicals and enjoyed the textures, light and depth of her painting.
photo print combined with hand stitching
One of my favourites is by Mary Moorken - fabulous slow hand stitching onto cotton print of an original antique photo

If you are passionate about art or even just curious, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting the RUA Exhibition. With over 300 new artworks to explore, you will surely find something that resonates with you. There are guided tours for the public

The wide range of talent on display, from established academicians to emerging artists, offers a rich tapestry of artistic expressions waiting to be discovered. The inclusion of CraftNI makers adds another enriching layer, showcasing the incredible craftsmanship present in Northern Ireland.

Whether your interests lie in painting, sculpture, or craft, the RUA Exhibition promises a captivating and thought-provoking experience. Take the time to by explore the creativity exhibited, attend stimulating talks, and immerse yourself in the vibrant Northern Irish art community.
