Thorns and Roses

This springtime I've been developing my collection 'Thorns and Roses' .

This was my original collection when I started on my silversmithing journey and helped me get selected for stockists and galleries. I worked with the red roses I discovered in jewellery markets in South China. I've always loved the colour combination of deep red with bright silver.
I've recently been making new silver claw settings and I spent a week redesigning two types of claws to fit different sizes of roses which involved A LOT of patient filing and fitting until I got them exactly the way I wanted them. Then they were sent off to West 1 Castings to be made into moulds and create castings for the necklaces.

I've also been hand-filing silver thorns which will be soldered on to branches for a larger piece I'm designing. It is a steep learning curve as I work out the best way to solder multiple pieces together.

Watch this space for more pieces being added to the Thorns and Roses Collection.
